DEATH BATTLE! Knuckles vs Wolverine

Rush: Alright. The combatants are set! Let's end this debate once and for all!

Bolt: It's time for a DEATH BATTLEEEEEEEEEEE!

Angel Island

Arriving on the surface of the floating island known as Angel Island, a small structured, muscular man stepped out of the helicopter he used to reach the island in the heavens. The man was not your ordinary human, but a mutant; A mutant blessed (or cursed depending on how you view the ability) with the ability to heal from almost any form of damage. This man was clothed in a yellow and black sleeveless suit with a pair of black boots and black gloves. The mutant then pulled his black and yellow hood-like mask over his face and began to explore the island. This man was none other than the iconic member of the X-Men, Wolverine. He may have not known it right away, but Logan had just set foot on the homeland of a certain animal who was determined to protect this place from people like him.

Wolverine's intentions for being on Angel Island was nothing negative. He was only following the orders of his leader, Charles Xavier, who had asked him to explore the island. I mean, if you saw an island floating in the sky, wouldn't you wanna know the reason why too?

Anyway, Wolverine explored the island as fast as he could, hacking and slashing his way through the forest like areas. Wolverine then came across a large open field with a large altar in the middle of it. On top of the altar lied an enormous green gem, the Master Emerald. Wolverine climbed the stairs of the altar, reaching the top of the altar in no time. Now face to face with the gem, Logan figured it would've been best to check out what this gem was.

As he began to walk towards the Master Emerald, a fist came flying at the X-Men, knocking the mutant off of the altar and unto the grassy field. Wolverine looked up and saw a red echidna with dreadlocks, spiked gloves, and wearing shoes composed of the colors red, yellow, and green standing near the Master Emerald. This was none other than the Master Emerald's guardian, Knuckles the Echidna, and he was pissed. Knuckles jumped from the altar and unto the field.

"Hey! Stay away from my Master Emerald!" Knuckles shouted.

"Ugh..." Logan grunted as he stood back on his feet. "Big mistake bub!" James shouted as his adamantium claws protruded from his hands. "Now you're going to get what's coming to ya!"


"Heh. Good luck trying to smash it out with me! I'm tougher and rougher than the rest of them! Knuckles the Echidna! That's right--I get to introduce myself!" Knuckles said.

"And what does that mean to me?" Wolverine snarled. "I'm the best at I what I do, and what I do ain't very nice bub! And if it's a fight you want, it's a fight you'll get!"

"Oh yeah. Just try and hit me!"

  
Knuckles charged towards Wolverine at speeds surpassing the speed of sound, and began throwing his punches at Logan wildly. Wolverine stepped back and shifted his body around the punches. Knuckles through one last punch at Wolverine, but Wolverine crossed his arms and blocked the punch. He then pushed back Knuckles and leaped forward, swiping downward for an attack, but Knuckles manage to successfully leap back to dodge the attack.

Knuckles charged towards Wolverine again and tried out the same tactic again, except this time he put more force behind his punches. When Knuckles' fist made contact with Wolverine's body, an explosion was created, which launched Logan quite a distance away from Knuckles. Knuckles blew the smoke off of his fist and chased after the flying Logan's body.

The red echidna soon caught up with James and delivered a powerful uppercut that launched Logan high into the sky. "That should be enough!" Knuckles cheered. It took about 40 seconds until Wolverine's body crashed back into the island. Wolverine's body was badly damaged. Half of his face appeared as if were burned off and the rest of his skin was dark red.

"Not as strong as you thought you were," Knuckles taunted.

"Alright you little red rat," Wolverine said as he stood to his feet. "You're a lot stronger than I anticipated. But..." Logan's wounds began to heal and the missing patches of skin soon regenerated.

"What!?" Knuckles exclaimed.

"It's going to take a lot more than that to put me down!" Wolverine said as fully healed from the damage.

"Huh," Knuckles said as he began to crack his knuckles. "I guess I'll just have to hit harder then!"

Knuckles leaped towards Wolverine and struck his fist downwards, but Wolverine managed to hop to the side of his attack. Logan then thrust his adamantium claws forward, forcing Knuckles to shift his body to the left. The claws manage to cleave its way through the Echidna's skin, but it wasn't anything he couldn't shake off. Wolverine thrust his claws forward again, but Knuckles managed to sidestep and grabbed Wolverine by his wrist. Knuckles ignited his free hand in flames once again and punch Wolverine a total of 25 times in a split second, knocking back the mutant once more.

Keeping the offense going, Knuckles charged towards Wolverine and grabbed him by the chest, shoving him into the ground. Now on the ground, the red echidna got on top of Logan and began beating the crap out of the mutant, punching Wolverine's face with enough force to trigger volcanic eruptions.

As he was being senselessly, Wolverine found the opening he needed and rammed his claws Knuckles' side. The echidna released a scream of agony right before Logan kicked him off of his body. Knuckles looked at his injury and looked at Wolverine.

"Ugh..." Knuckles grunted. "I'll make sure you pay for this!" Knuckles then equipped himself with one of his most iconic weapons. "Shovel Claw!" he yelled moments before burrowing into the ground at high speeds.

"What are you up too?" Logan said as he walked closer to the hole in the ground. Meanwhile below the surface, Knuckles got on one knee and used the element of earth to heal himself from the stab wound on his side. It didn't take long until Knuckles was completely healed.

Meanwhile back above the surface, Wolverine began to sniff out his opponent, waiting for his next move. "There's no use hiding bub..." Wolverine said. "No matter where you hide, I will find you..."

"Even you can sniff me out..." Knuckles yelled as he emerged from the ground and delivered a fiery uppercut to the mutant's chin. "...that doesn't mean you're fast enough to keep up with me!" Knuckles then began to continuously burrow through the ground and pop out, attacking the iconic X-Men member from all different angles at speeds greater than what Logan could keep up with. 

"Alright..." Knuckles thought to himself as he was digging his way back to the surface. "One more of my punches should do the trick!"

Knuckles popped out of the ground to deliver a fiery uppercut to Logan's chin, but the mutant quickly stepped to the side to avoid the echidna. "Predictable..." Wolverine snarled as he thrust all his claws forward. Luckily for Knuckles, he was able to land his feet on the smooth surface of the adamantium claws and deliver a fiery kick to the mutant's face, launching him into a nearby tree.

Knuckles panted as he landed on the ground. "Man...this guy is tough, but this guy should be done for now!" But as soon as Knuckles said that, Wolverine stood to his feet and healed from the damage. "Oh come on!" Knuckles shouted. "How many times do I have to punch this guy before he goes down for good!? Oh well, back to the punching."

Knuckles curled his body into a ball and propelled himself towards Wolverine, but Wolverine stepped to the side again in order to dodge Knuckles' assault. The echidna however steered his body back around and rammed himself into Logan's back, cutting through his skin tissue and muscles. 

Knuckles ceased his Spin Dashing and hopped off of Wolverine's back. Seeing through the opening that was now on his hole, Knuckles saw Wolverine's smooth, metallic spine, which was then covered back up by Logan's regenerating muscles and tissue.

(*music stops*)

"What was that?" Knuckles questioned. "Huh.....so you're not just an ordinary human with sharp claws that heals from any form of damage. Wow that sounded a little weird when I just said that but the eyes never lie. You have a metal spine and that could only mean one thing. How could I have been so blind? You're a-"

"That's right bub. I'm a-"

"...a robot!" Knuckles shouted.

"Wait, what?"

"It all adds up! You appear human but you have claws, can heal, and you have a metal spine. That means you're one of Eggman's robots and your intention really is to steal the Master Emerald!" Knuckles explained. Wolverine face palmed.

"Ugh. I'm fighting one of those type of guys," Wolverine murmured under his breath.

"It all makes sense now! Hehe," Knuckles chuckled as he cracked his knuckles. "That means now I won't feel too bad when I beat the daylights out of you this time Mr. Robot."


Knuckles rushed towards Logan and threw a fiery punched at the mutant's face, but Wolverine caught the punch and then proceeded to knee Knuckles in the gut. Now down on his knees, Knuckles made another attempt to escape the scene but Wolverine quickly grabbed Knuckles by the leg and held him upside down.

"Not this time runt..." Wolverine said. Logan then jabbed his fist forward but Knuckles quickly reacted and proceeded to do the same thing.

Both of the combatants' fist collided with each other, but Wolverine's adamantium claws penetrated Knuckles'...uh knuckles, causing the echidna to release a quick yelp of pain. Knuckles quickly ignited his fist again and punched James with another explosion triggering punch, which caused Wolverine to let go of the now injured Knuckles and launched him a few miles away.

"Yikes..." Knuckles said as he observed his bleeding hand. "That looks bad. I'd better try and heal myself while I have the chance." Knuckles got on one knee and used the element of earth to slowly heal himself of his wounds.

However, as he was healing his wound Knuckles heard a yell deep in the forest. Knuckles saw it was Wolverine, and boy was he pissed. Knuckles panicked and grabbed an enormous boulder from within the ground. "Stay away from me!" Knuckles said as he tossed the boulder at Logan. "I'm trying to heal myself!"

Wolverine ducked under and sliced through the boulders Knuckles chucked at. Knuckles panicked. "Ugh! Boulders aren't working! I guess it's time to let my fists do the talking again."

Wolverine sliced downward, but Knuckles weaved around the attack and delivered quick jabs to Wolverine's gut. Logan shrugged off the physical assault and thrust his fist forward, but Knuckles then vanished right before his eyes. Now on the opposite side of Wolverine, Knuckles rammed his fist into his opponent's back multiple times, pushing Logan forward.

Wolverine turned his body quickly and swung his claws downward again, but Knuckles vanished again and ran right back behind Wolverine. Knuckles leaped towards Wolverine. Wolverine was able to turn back before the echidna could punch him, but Knuckles actually punched the ground in order to create a dust storm to hide himself. Can you believe it? Knuckles was actually strategizing against his opponent.

Wolverine scanned the area for his opponent, but the dust cloud was too think for Wolverine to see through. Wolverine began to sniff the area once more, searching for Knuckles. The red echidna came rushing towards Logan at speeds greater than the speed of sound and jabbed his fist forward, but Wolverine simply caught the punch.

"What?!" Knuckles exclaimed.

"Ain't no use bub. The nose knows," Wolverine responded.

James then delivered a powerful kick into the echidna's midsection, launching him back, and chased after his flying body. As soon as Knuckles fell unto the ground, Wolverine kicked Knuckles in the chin and launched him into the air. Keeping the heat going, Wolverine jumped into the air and repeatedly slashed, punched, and kicked the guardian into the ground. Wolverine ended the combo by spartan kicking him in the face, launching him back.

Knuckles landing hard on the ground, but he quickly hopped back unto his feet. 

"Heh," Knuckles chuckled. "I was just warming up!" 

The Master Emerald's guardian then proceeded to hop into the air and glide towards Logan at speeds faster than what he could comprehend. Knuckles crashed into Wolverine and smashed him into the ground, sending a tremor powerful enough to shake a city throughout the island. After that, Knuckles tossed Wolverine into the air and summoned a meteor from the sky to crash into him. As he crashed and bounced off the ground, Knuckles leaped into the air yelling "I'm not done with you yet!" and slammed Wolverine into the ground with enough force to ignite the man himself. 

Knuckles panted heavily. "I guess...that goes to show...why you don't mess with someone rougher than the rest of them. I'm the best of them," Knuckles boasted, but as he boasted Wolverine managed to stumble to his feet. "Oh come on!"

(*music stops*)

"Ugh...ouch," Wolverine grunted as he stood to his feet and healed from the damage. "Alright you little red rodent! Now you got me mad!" Wolverine screamed to the top of his lungs. His muscle mass increased in size. His eyes turned blood red. Knuckles' has caused Logan to tap into the Berserker Rage.


The now pissed X-Man charged towards Knuckles at blinding speeds and slashed his claws downward, however Knuckles flipped to the side in order to dodge being slashed in half. Knuckles then stepped back quickly.

"Whoa man! Calm down!" Knuckles shouted, but Wolverine was relentless and continued to charge at Knuckles at again. He began to swing his claws wildly.

"No! I won't calm down!" he shouted as he swung his claws towards Knuckles' neck, but Knuckles ducked under the claws. 

Logan then swung his claws at Knuckles' legs, but Knuckles successfully jumped over the blades. Wolverine began jabbing his claws at Knuckles at speeds faster then the human eye can process, but Knuckles managed weave his way around the claws, all without being hit by a single one. Knuckles jabbed his fist forward, but Wolverine managed to dodge the ignited punch and grabbed the echidna by the arm. Now within reach, Wolverine slashed Knuckles chest, creating an "X" symbol on the guardian's chest.

"Gah!" Knuckles screeched in pain.

"You're dead bub!" Logan shouted as he attempted to deliver the final blow, but Knuckles quickly dodged the attack and glided away from the scene. "Oh no you don't!" Logan shouted as he began to chase after the echidna.

Knuckles continued his flight until he came across a cliff side to stick his spiked fists into. Knuckles placed one hand on his chest and saw that he was bleeding badly.

"Urgh..." Knuckles grunted as he continued to climb this cliff side. "This machine's tough. Eggman really stepped up his game. I can't believe I'm saying this but I might have to use the true power of the Master Emerald to win thi..." Knuckles was then distracted by a "SHINK! SHINK!" sound. Knuckles looked down and saw Wolverine was climbing the cliff side by shoving his claws into the cliff side. "What!?" Knuckles shouted.

Wolverine quickly caught up with Knuckles and swung his one hand multiple times, trying to slice the echidna into multiple pieces, but Knuckles successfully dodged each and every slice. Knuckles jumped off of the cliff side and made an attempt to glide away from the scene, but Wolverine leaped off of the cliff side towards Knuckles.

"Crap..." Sonic's rival murmured under his breath as the berserk Wolverine landed on the echidna's back and stabbed him in the back with both set of claws.

Knuckles screamed as he lost too much energy to maintain his flight and crashed into the ground with Logan on top of him. The X-Man got off of echidna and prepared himself to deliver the final blow.

"Good night mole rat!"

Before Wolverine could end the echidna's life, Knuckles used his remaining strength to raise and stretch his hand out. "M-Master Emerald..." Knuckles murmured under his breath. "Pl-please. Lend me your energy! I n-need it. Now!"

"Don't even waste your breath," Wolverine snarled. "Nothing is saving you now!"

Wolverine thrust his claws forward, aiming for Knuckles' vitals, but once Wolverine's made contact with the echidna's body, they could not penetrate it. Wolverine's eyes widened. He did not know that the Master Emerald had heard Knuckles' cried for help, and lent him enough energy to make his next move.

"Hehe..." Knuckles chuckled. "Thank you Master Emerald. And as for you!" Knuckles said as he turned towards Wolverine. "I think it's about time I truly showed you why I am the guardian of the Master Emerald....and no one..." Knuckles' red fur soon turned pink. "...NO ONE IS GOING TO STOP ME FROM MAINTAINING MY DUTY!"

"What's this?" Logan questioned.


"Heh...don't play dumb..." the empowered echidna said to Logan. "I know Eggman programmed the knowledge into that little metal brain of yours! Who doesn't know the Hyper form when they see it?"

"AGH!" the Berserk Wolverine shouted. "Just shut up! I'm not a robot! This talk is really pissing me off!" Logan shouted as he ran towards Knuckles, thrusting his blades into his skin, but the claws did not penetrate Hyper Knuckles. In fact, it didn't harm him at all. "What!"

Knuckles grabbed Wolverine's arm. "Oh yeah! I'm the indestructible one now!"


Knuckles clenched his fist and punched Wolverine with the force of a nuke, launching Logan a far distance. While in mid-air, Hyper Knuckles flew to Wolverine's flying body at "unmeasurable speeds" and grabbed him by the face. Knuckles then proceeded to slam Wolverine into the ground with enough force to trigger an explosion that eclipsed Angel Island.

Hyper Knuckles then tossed Wolverine into the air and summoned a bolt of lightning to strike Wolverine while in mid-air. Wolverine was being badly damaged, but he was still managing to heal from the wounds. The pink echidna flew towards Logan and delivered a powerful punch that launched Wolverine all the way back to the surface of Angel Island.

As soon as Wolverine crash landed into Angel Island, Hyper Knuckles flew around the entire planet in less than a second and punched Wolverine with enough force that it launched him through the ground and into Hidden Palace Zone. Wolverine bounced off of the ground, coughing up blood as he stumbled to his feet.

Wolverine squinted his red eyes as wiped the blood that fell from his mouth. Hyper Knuckles then appeared in front of Logan.

"Hehehe," Hyper Knuckles chuckled as he flicked his nose. "Is that the power you wanted or what?"

"Pathetic..." Wolverine said.

"What?!"

"That's the best you can do to me?" Wolverine boasted. "I've taken blows from things that make your pink form look pathetic in comparison!"

"Ugh..." Hyper Knuckles grunted. "Don't you mock me!" Knuckles said as charged towards Wolverine and punched him with enough force to launch him into outer space! Hyper Knuckles then appeared above Wolverine. "I'll show you my strength...all of it! This will make those other things look like sissies in comparison!"

Knuckles charged into Wolverine at unimaginable speeds once more, so impressive that space and time began to bend. Wolverine and Hyper Knuckles body soon caught on fire similar to a meteor moving at Mach 32 speeds. "This is it!" Knuckles shouted. "You're done for!" Hyper Knuckles punched Wolverine into Angel with so much force, everybody on the entire planet could feel the shockwaves. Nearby cities fell apart, oceans rose, mountains crumbled but Angel Island was still in one piece somehow.

(*music stops*)

Angel Island was not completely unaffected however. A good portion of the island cracked and fell into the ocean below, and there was a city sized crater in the midst of the island with Logan in it. Wolverine was not moving his body however. Apparently Hyper Knuckles punched Wolverine with so much force that his heart exploded inside his chest.

Hyper Knuckles descended to the ground, chuckling at his defeated adversary.

"Ha! Not as strong as you thought you were robot!" Knuckles taunted as he powered down from his Hyper form, reverting back into his base form. "I must admit though, Eggman sure is getting more sophisticated with his machines. I mean, I didn't expect it to bleed and all that. Oh well..."

As Knuckles began to walk away from the scene, a loud roar alerted the echidna. Knuckles turned around and saw that the X-men member was alive and standing on his feet, his eyes still glowing red.

"I-impossible!" Knuckles exclaimed.

Wolverine did not say a word. He rushed towards Knuckles, slicing cleanly through his left arm before the echidna could even process what was going. Wolverine then stabbed Knuckles in the gut and proceeded to stab the Master Emerald's guardian multiple times in the same spot. Knuckles was not giving up however.

Once Wolverine stopped stabbing him, Knuckles ignited his fist and punched Logan with another explosion generating punch, but Wolverine was not even fazed by the attack.

"Crap..." Knuckles murmured under his breath. "This isn't good."

Wolverine kicked the echidna off of his claws and charged towards him to deliver the final blow. Knuckles gulped as Logan charged towards him at speeds faster than the human eye. Knuckles then turned towards the audience.

"Whelp everybody who was rooting for me....I'm sorry. I seem to have failed you all..."

Wolverine then delivered the final blow. He sliced off Knuckles other arm and slashed him into multiple places on his body. Blood gushed out Knuckles' wounds like a sprinkler. Wolverine ended the combo with two final slashes that created the iconic "X" symbol. Knuckles' body fell apart into multiple pieces, creating a bloody mess on the ground.

Wolverine's Berserker Rage ended and Logan fell unto his rear end. Wolverine grunted in agony from all the pain he received in Berserker form, but it wasn't anything he could not heal from. The X-Man then took out a cigarette, lighting it, and then uttered his most iconic quote.

"I told you bub...I'm the best at what I do, and what I do ain't very nice..."

Bolt: Ew....hate to be the guy that has to clean that up.

Rush: Knuckles may have had the edge in speed and physical strength, but Wolverine's insane durability, stubborn healing factor, superior fighting style, and overwhelming experience gave him the edge he needed in the long run.

Bolt: Knuckles may be strong enough to trigger volcanic eruptions and create explosions, but Wolverine has taken blows from opponents who can do the same thing and on a greater scale, such as Hulk and Thor, on a daily basis.

Rush: Not to mention that Knuckles' tactic of staying up close and personal was a bad match up for Wolverine's decades of fighting experience.

Bolt: If he can hold his own against the likes of Iron Fist and Captain America in hand to hand combat, there's no doubt he can hold his own against Knuckles when it comes to close quarters combat. Let's not forget that Wolverine has the edge when it comes to strategic and tactical ability over Knuckles, who usually resorts to "just punching" and isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer.

Rush: And add that with Wolverine's adamantium skeleton, healing factor, and far greater stamina, all Knuckles could do was delay the inevitable.

Bolt: But wait! What about Hyper Knuckles? Surely that should give Knuckles more of a fighting chance against Logan, right?

Rush: Well yes, it does increase his speed and strength by at least 1000x, but what was just establish still stands. While Hyper Knuckles should basically be untouchable to Wolverine, it's doesn't become the question of "can Wolverine beat Hyper Knuckles?" but "can Wolverine outlast Hyper Knuckles?" And ultimately, yes he can.

Bolt: In a battle between a faster-than-light, planetary threat versus someone who has taken punishment from similar levels of power like Thor and Hulk, added with the adamantium, healing factor and incredible stamina, it's more than likely Logan can take the punishment long enough.

Rush: Wolverine was able to fight Sabretooth for 17 hours straight while the only character in Sonic history that has managed to hold the super form for that long was Sonic himself. Considering that Sonic has more experience with the super form than Knuckles does, it's not likely that Knuckles himself can hold the form for days like Sonic did.

Bolt: And considering the fact Knuckles has no display of Sonic's other abilities like phasing, it's not like Knuckles could phase through Wolverine and rip out his brain....or even pinpoint that as a possibility to begin with.

Rush: Let's give Knuckles some slack though. He DOES have a form that can defeat and even kill Wolverine. Enerjak Knuckles possesses the same advantages as Knuckles and Hyper Knuckles, but has the ability to de-atomize Logan with the wave of his hands or just send him to the center of the Earth like he did Super Sonic. However, due to the circumstances needed to access that form (needing a hex on a Master Emerald), it's not like he can access the form anytime he wants, especially since the hex is no longer on the Master Emerald.

Bolt: But considering Wolverine's advantage in hand-to-hand, his adamantium claws that would slice through Knuckles like butter, and Knuckles' tactic to rush in, it's more likely Logan would take out Knuckles before the transformations came into play. Looks like Knuckles won't be chuckling after this match.

Rush: The winner is The Wolverine.
